Last week I tried this new dog treatrecipe for my boys. Two ingredients and all organic. And the results were a HUGE success! I found the recipe here. It’s nice to come across another crazy dog Mom. I enjoy being able to make them something in the kitchen rather than purchasing something from the store with a lot of ingredients.
The recipe gives you the freedom to chose what flavor you want to make. My boys loves apples and bananas, so this was the first choice. I will be trying others. Each jar of baby food cost $1.29.
I picked up the Organic whole wheat flour at my favorite store for $1.50. I already had the cookie cutter in my stash, but was looking for something a bit smaller. Like bite size. Keep reading…
Another bonus for this recipe is that I’m only mixing two ingredients together. That’s it!
I gave the boys a little sample by letting them lick the lids. You will see that they were okay with the flavor.
I was thinking out loud on what I could use as a cookie cutter to make the treats smaller. Adam suggested the top of a pop bottle. It worked like a charm! I dipped the top in flour after every other impression.
The dough rolled out with a texture similar to pizza dough. I used a little extra flour on the counter just in case it started to stick. Next time I’ll know not to use so much.
Due to using a smaller cookie cutter I didn’t set the oven as high as the recipe called for because I didn’t want them to burn. For the bottle cap size I set my oven between 275-300. I baked them for about 10-12 minutes. Use your best judgement depending on the size of treat your making and how your oven works.
They couldn’t wait to try them. Actually as I type this post their supply is completely gone. I’ll be choosing another flavor for another batch.
The whole batch made 12 1/2 dozen and cost roughly $4.15. Your batch will vary depending of the size of cookie cutter you use.
Kinda looks like a made dog kibble (food).
So, what flavor would your beloved dogs like? I’m thinking sweet potato might be next.

In the process of making smash books for my nieces and nephews I found myself digging through a lot of photos. And then I stumbled upon these. Hardy was so little here. Where does the time go?
Before Disco and House came along it was just Hardy and me. We always managed to find ways to pass the time. For instance, these reindeer antlers. I don’t remember where I found these but I thought he would look cute in them.
Disco’s favorite position when he’s on the couch. I always find it odd that he hangs his front legs off the edge. Sometimes his head hangs over as well. Almost like he’s going to fall off but never does.
Perhaps he wants to be ready to jump if someone comes to the door. I asked him once if he was comfortable. His tail wags paired with a smile.
Hello, it’s Disco here. Our Mom is busy visiting with family so I thought I would post a little something to help her out. Not sure this has anything to do with what she blogs about, but I’m using the opportunity to give a reminder to those people that have animals.
Today on the news I heard some lady say to make sure that we have plenty of cold water and shade to help us out in this heat.
As much as I love to go for a car ride, leave me at home where it’s cooler. I’ll settle for a couple extra peanut butter treats instead.
Hardy had a Twilight themed party for his 4th birthday, two years ago. Bad Mommy lost the pictures. Good Mommy had to recreate the party to get the pictures again. No one with four legs complained of a second celebration within the same year. Bad Mommy lost the disk, again.
Well, I’m happy to report that I finally found the disk. Therefore, I’m sharing them with you before I lose it…again.
Yes, I’m a soon-to-be 40 year old Twilight fan.
I found these Vip Vampire passes on Ebay that you can have customized to fit your event. You had to order at least a set of 4, so I have one for myself.
Hardy was a good sport in wearing his. Perhaps he knew bread (his favorite) and apples were involved.
Disco posed proudly for the camera. He’s pretty easy going with his owner’s crazy schemes.
And then there’s House. Whenever he has anything “foreign” around his neck, other than his leash, his ear sticks out. He played along though.
You can’t have a party without balloons and snacks. Yes, those are Edward balloons. Another Ebay find. My boys may look like they are team Jacob, but truly we are all team Edward. Sliced apples are their favorite. I found my version of a wolf (really the tag said horse) and made peanut butter cut out sandwiches for them.
Everyone had a great time.
