Happy Birthday Ethan

August 23, 2012

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY ETHAN!

As I mentioned yesterday we celebrated my nephews birthday this past weekend with a party.  And yes, Spider-man dominated the day.  From the cake/cupcakes, decorations, birthday banner, and all of his gifts.  Ethan was most pleased with everything.  I can remember the day that I met him for the first time in the hospital shortly after his birth.  They grow up way to fast.
Mollie (Ethan’s Mom) did an awesome job on his cake.  Their dog, Jack, even got to sample (unplanned) the first one that was made for the party.  The guests enjoyed the second one she made.  Her cupcakes are always a surprise because she adds a little something extra to them.  It was all delicious.
Four candles for the birthday boy!
Ethan’s dad (aka my little brother) got the pleasure of removing one of his gifts from its box.  Toy companies go a bit overboard with the twist ties.
Cooper (one of the twins) enjoying a cupcake.
His twin sister Aubrie was quite entertaining.  She was singing here.
Here’s some DIY inspiration for you.
Using Spider-man comics, my pizza box (used as a stencil for the triangles-seriously) and coordinating colors I created this banner.  It read Happy Birthday Ethan.  A bit too long to fit in the photo.
Using two pieces of foam board, a pencil, a black marker, and a box cutter I created a little city.  The inspiration came from a board on Pinterest.  Super easy!
I’ve seen the collage letters done several ways.  I tinkered with a few ideas from a couple that I saw on Pinterest.  {Where would we be without that site?}  Ethan received the first one.  One down, five more to go.  I’ll post a tutorial when I do the next one later this month.  I was easily distracted with this project by all the pictures.  Amazing how much they change in four years.  My oh my…
As I was uploading the pictures taken with my phone and camera I came across this one.  Not quite sure how it came about but it looks interesting.  Can you think of a line from a movie when you first look at it?
Here’s what first came to my mind.  I watched this particular movie several times back in the 80s.
“Carol Ann, listen to me!”
Do not go into the light!
Stop where you are!
Don’t even look at it!
Until the next word…
