Today’s Catnap

October 17, 2015

The air is crisp and the leaves are changing fast here in the Midwest.  We’re soaking up every minute of this gorgeous Fall season!
This project started with one photo and has evolved into a collection of moments.  This is why I love taking pictures.

Today’s Catnap

October 3, 2015

Fall has arrived and the weather here in the Midwest has been gorgeous!
So what better way to soak up the crisp air than to take a catnap…outdoors…on a sidewalk that leads to the Mississippi River.
Are you new to this series?  It all began with one photo.

Fall Like Symptoms

August 17, 2014

Is it just me or are there signs of Fall showing?  My mums have been in almost full bloom for a month now. The squirrels are driving us crazy with their mess of walnut shells all over the deck.  And then there’s the random yellow leaves we keep finding all over the yard.
Not sure if I’m ready for Fall yet.
Are you?
P.S.  Be careful if you have dogs near the walnut tree.  Hardy got a piece stuck in between his paw pads. Luckily it didn’t puncture through the skin.

My Life With Dogs: Warm Sunny Days

March 7, 2013

I hate winter.
New topic.  We are all anxiously awaiting for Spring’s arrival.  Although we lose an hour of sleep this weekend, it’s so worth it.  Speaking of daylight savings time.  The boys are on a strict feeding schedule due to House having a little issue with his tummy.  I say strict because if your even five minutes late Hardy will let it be known to any human that’s in the house with him.  He’s has a habit of letting you know about an hour early that his feeding time is coming up.  I’m “hoping” that the time change will put him back on track.
Have you ever wondered what dogs really know?  We teach them all sorts of tricks, but do you think they know more?  I could study their behavior all day.
A little over a month ago the boys were introduced to a toy box.  We thoroughly showed them how to take the toys out and then how to return them.  They’ve adjusted well to the new box, but Mommy is still picking up the toys at the end of the day.  I’m sure more homemade treats will do the trick. Another positive is that I’m not tripping on the toys anymore.
We’ve started a countdown as to when Spring arrives.  Looking forward to the long walks and actually being able to stay outside with them longer than five minutes before freezing.
As I adjust myself in my office chair I discovered that I have two of my boys sleeping underneath my work station.  Time to end my day.
Until the next word…

Friday’s Top 10 List: 9-21-12

September 21, 2012

I’ve been battling a nasty cold the past few days.  I HATE being sick.  With the help of anything that has vitamin C in it, zinc cold therapy tablets, homemade soup, and lots of rest I’m pulling through it.  Did I mention that I HATE being sick?
So, were you one of the thousands of people in line today for the new iPhone5?  Hopefully everyone will get one before six comes out.  Sorry, had to throw that one in there!  I’m happy with my Google phone.  It continues to amaze me on how much this little device can do.
Are you following me on Twitter?  I grant you permission…
*****
I grew up with MTV.  It was there that I’ve discovered some of the most influential bands that I currently listen to today.  Either on cassette or vinyl.  Anything that produces music.  One of my bucket list entries read…During my visit to NYC I plan to visit a live taping of TRL.  Weather it be a seat in the audience or someone in the crowd holding up a piece of cardboard, I wanted to be there.  Remember TRL?  I cried the day that it ended.  Looking at how technology has changed over the years I have a better understanding of why it ended.  The internet gives musicians a different avenue for distributing their music.  One in which everyone has adapted to.
Well, earlier this month I was watching The Today Show and saw this clip.  I jumped for joy.  Ashanti is bringing back what I miss.  The show, Fuse News, will deliver what’s new with music.  She’ll include iTunes updates as well.  Kudos to her!
It’s official!  I’m on the hunt for every scrumptious mouth-watering vegetarian crock-pot recipe I can get my hands on.  I’m starting with this recipe.  You can’t possible think of Fall without a crock-pot full of goodness.  Which reminds me, I need to purchase another one.  One isn’t enough.  If you have any websites to refer me to, please leave me a comment.  Thanks!
A very cool t shirt website I discovered this week.  Which one is your favorite?  Here’s mine.
Camera cozy DIY project.  I like!
A Vintage Christmas?  We’re getting ready to bring in all the goodies here in our shop in Galena, IL.  Here’s a few Etsy shops that I found that carry some goodies to decorate your house.  One, Two, and Three.
Any holiday gatherings on your calendar?  Here’s some mini desserts that look tempting without the gathering.
Vintage is in more now than ever!  What an adorable photo prop for newborns.
Last year during the holidays a friend of mine asked me for a recipe for a mixture to boil over the stove to give the house a nice fragrance.  I knew of nothing.  Truthfully I’ve never heard of such thing.  Today, I asked Google and found these.  Fall is becoming by far my favorite season.  How about you?
Rock-Paper-Scissors for Halloween?  Cute!
30 ways to decorate with pumpkins.

Where did the Summer Go???

August 18, 2010

It’s nearly the end of August, WOW!

My Mother’s store, All That’s Vintage, is going great in Galena. I’m thankful to have another venue to test my products in. Along with my handmade cards, I’ve added recycled jewelry to my line, using typewriter/cash register keys. She created a blog at Allthatsvintage.blogspot.com
We’ve designed the new ad for the store to be in the Galenian Magazine. How does it look?

My writing assignments have taken a change. An announcement will be coming very soon. Very excited to share, but I can’t just yet……….

I’m going to start doing Giveaways on my fan page of Facebook. Just another way I want to test some of my new products out. If you would like to become a fan (like), please refer to the box to the right to guide you there.

I never sit still, so I’m also in the works for opening another storefront for my products. It will be hosted on the Meylah Website.

A few months ago, I responded to a link a friend had posted on Twitter about a new magazine coming out. The first 500 to respond get a free subscription. I LOVE IT!!! It’s called Starlee-Success on Your Terms. It’s a magazine created for women entrepreneurs. It has been most helpful to me. I’ll be doing another blog post for my review of the magazine. It was pretty cool to see my Twitter comment in their third issue.

Who planted a garden this year? Daily I am picking vegetables from my garden and harvesting them. With the days getting shorter it means that fall is coming. Which is good. A nice comfortable time of the year to work outside or online, I prefer online.

My three dogs continue to grow, inspire, and drive me crazy all at the same time. I wouldn’t trade them for anything. Who else can I endlessly share my thoughts and ideas with and they will always agree with me? They are the perfect business partners. I’ve been experimenting with some new homemade treats for them, we’ll see how they go.

The “munchkins”(nieces-nephews) continue to grow by walking, holding their own bottles, and learning how to “talk back”—they too have inspired me with some new projects I’ve been exploring that are more kid-friendly.

And that brings me to my biggest project this summer which is just winding up. My office, or what use to be called the dumping station. Too much stuff. Too many to-do piles. I basically put myself through an “Extreme Makeover”–and it’s working. I can channel my thoughts more clearly now and it’s time to get the jobs done. Planning to write an article on my journey through this makeover for Handmade Spark.

Well, that just about sums up my summer.

Talk to you later on the next post.
