To save time this year I chose not to frost my homemade sugar cookies. No worries, they still have a little bit of chocolate in them. If you missed Part One (includes recipe) of this post, click here.
In Part One I used the dog bone cookie cutter. For the remaining cookies I used a Christmas tree, Gingerbread Man, and Candy Cane. Last year I used such large cookie cutters. This year I chose smaller ones. Much easier to handle.
With the warm temperatures that we’ve been having it just doesn’t seem a lot like it Christmas. But as I messed up the kitchen with tons of flour everywhere to make these cut outs, the feeling of Christmas was there. Perhaps it was the flour that resembled snow…?
Don’t forget to have a bowl of flour handy to dip your cookie cutter in as you make the cut outs. Helps prevent the dough from sticking to the metal.
For the gingerbread men I used mini chocolate chips for their eyes. Then I alternated between Red Hots and Mini Semi Sweet Chocolate Bits for the buttons. Topped the cookie off with assorted sprinkles.
My one stop shopping place is The Calico Bean Market here in Dubuque, Iowa. That’s were I buy all my decorating supplies.
For the candy canes I melted vanilla almond bark and topped then off with red sprinkles.
This was the last of the holiday goodies that I made this year. I do have one more special recipe that if time allows this next week I’ll make them. And of course I’ll share right here.
A bag full of assorted handmade goodies make great gifts for the Christmas season. Buying for the person that has everything? They will appreciate this, trust me!
Check back tomorrow for the weekly Top 10 List. Since we’re getting close to the final holiday shipping dates I’m switching from the Etsy gift guides to last minute DIY gift ideas. You won’t want to miss this one. And then next week’s list I’ll be sharing inexpensive holiday wrapping ideas.
Can you believe that Santa arrives in less than two weeks. That’s looks scary to even type it, because I have so much to do yet.
Until the next word…
