Nirvana

April 6, 2014

Today is the 20 year anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death.  A day that resonates with several people for various reasons.  His family, his friends, and those who respected his music.  To reflect on where he would be in the music world today wouldn’t be a good use of our time.  Instead, let’s appreciate what he already gave us. He’s inspired many others so that we can live through his talent in music.

Last year I placed an order from a local record shop for a copy of Nirvana’s Nevermind on vinyl.  It took forever.
Finally, months later the owner called.  He told my record was in, but it wasn’t was I ordered. I was pissed. He explained to me that they sent something else instead.
As mentioned above I was after the band’s second album that was originally released in 1991.  His distributor sent Nevermind, only this one was the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition.
So, not only did I get the original album, but there’s also live tracks, the B-sides, studio sessions, and unreleased material.  A great set to have in my vinyl collection.
Until the next word…

Lita Ford Visits Iowa

April 3, 2013

This was my first time seeing Lita Ford live in concert and she ROCKED!
Her band did a meet and greet after the show.  This is what I love about living in a small town.  You don’t have to pay an insane amount of money to exchange a few words with the band.  It was interesting to look at all the memorabilia that people had with them while waiting in line.  The girl behind me sported a very nice tattoo of her name.  She brought along an album cover from the 80s.  Another man had a 45 rpm record.  I saw several advertisement posters from her previous shows dating back to when she was on tour with Joan Jett.
I choose to bring the CD cover to The Best Of The Runaways.  I stayed close to the table to watch others pass through the line mostly because I wanted to see what piece of the past they had with them.  It was definitely a trip down memory lane.

I love the photo we got with Lita!
I managed to get a couple of good photos with my point shoot camera.  The red lights were a killer for most of the shots that I took.  I chalk these up to good timing.
Her bass players and drummer gave the audience amazing solo performances.  It was so loud, but so worth it.
Menace (local band) opened for Lita.  They did a good job getting the crowd warmed up.
I picked up her latest CD along with a shirt at the merchandise booth after the show.  She performed a few songs from this CD.  It’ll be in my car deck for awhile.

My Trip To Alpine Valley Music Theatre: Part One

September 9, 2012

Yesterday’s road trip was a BLAST!  A group of us went to go see The Treatment, Motley Crue, and KISS {“aka” The Tour 2012} perform live in Wisconsin at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre.  This was my first visit to this venue.  It was kinda scary because of it’s size, but it was fun!  I’m in need of sleep, so today’s post is very brief.  I just wanted to share a couple of pics that I took before the show.  Nature photography is oh so inspiring.
It was very hard for me yesterday to not pull my car off the road to take pictures.  The clouds were amazing and the trees had a wicked look to them.
When we reached our final destination I was happy to stand on the hood of my car to take photos.
See that large dark cloud in the middle.  He paid us a visit later on in the evening.  I’ll share more later.
Until the next word…{girl needs sleep}
