National Camera Day 2015

June 30, 2015

Happy National Camera Day! Truth be told, I’ve never heard of it until a post showed up in the Facebook feed this morning.
What better reason does one need to take some pictures.  Adam peeked inside my closet and came up with an idea for a photoshoot using my personal collection of vintage cameras.
Twenty nine images later…  Ironically, that’s the number of images we ended up with in the end. Read more here about this awesome day.
Photographer:  Eightymillion Photography
Wardrobe/Stylist/Model:  Adam

Meanwhile, this is Barney.  I had the pleasure to hang out with him yesterday.  Sweet boy.

girl + camera ~ DubuqueFest Fine Arts Festival 2014

May 23, 2014

Another successful DubuqueFest has come to an end.  Adam and I had a chance to visit briefly last Saturday morning.  We had three goals to accomplish before we both had to go to work.  View the Panorama, visit our friendly record shop booths, and devour a funnel cake.
Mission accomplished!  Enjoy the photos.
The Motley Crue turntable slip mat was a complete surprise.  Our local record shop now offers them. It was hard to decide, but I believe I made the right choice.  And the stack of used CD’s?  I like the tangibles. iTunes is not for me.
My first “puparazzi” photo!  Look at the size of this Great Dane.  He’s super friendly.

Five Friday Favorites

May 9, 2014

Everyday while surfing the web I come across so many things that entertain, inspire, and educate me.  So, I’m choosing five of those to share with you here.  Enjoy!

FINALLY!  {I love this show}

Are you visiting Chicago this summer?  Perhaps leaning out a window 94 floors above the city is on your list. I might try it…might. {Photo credit: nbcnews.com}
Emma, from A Beautiful Mess shares a recipe for Cauliflower Crust Pizza.  I’m going to try it.
This week a friend of mine introduced me to these two talented musicians.  Be sure to check out their website and if you ever get the chance to see them live, GO!
Have you ever been watching a tv show/movie and get distracted by the music that’s playing?  It happens to me all the time! Tunefind is a website that can help.  {Photo credit: lifehacker.com}

New Blog Series: Five Friday Favorites

March 15, 2014

Welcome to my new series titled, Five Friday Favorites!  I decided to give my previous Top 10 List a makeover and this is what I came up with.  Same concept, with a few changes.
Everyday while surfing the web I come across so many things that entertain, inspire, and educate me.  So, I’m choosing five of those to share with you here.  Enjoy!
P.S.  The image above is where the idea to post five came from.  I pass these trees several times throughout my weekly travels.  I have a serious obsession with trees.  The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

Wouldn’t you love to get a piece of cake in the mail?  Make your own right here.  {Photo credit: She Knows Living}
As a card designer, this article made me smile.  {Photo credit: Inc.com}
The first selfie?  Perhaps, but what caught my attention is the vintage camera!  {Photo credit: npr blog}

Handmade Card Inspiration-UPDATE!

May 5, 2013

I take a lot of photos.  Let me say that again.  I take a LOT of photos.  It’s time to put them to use.  A lot of my prints never make it to paper.  They exist only on a flash drive.  Why?  My daily struggles with time I guess.
I’ve been coming across all sorts of interesting things in the craft store.  Photography related rubberstamps, film strip washi tape, Polaroid scrapbook paper, and a few other goodies.  And of course I buy it all!  Then it sits in a drawer in my office.
My goal this week is to dig it all out and create some new cards.  I need to get my Etsy card shop back open and why not do it with a whole new look?  My card rack in Galena needs some sprucing up as well.
I’ll post an update as to how they turn out.
UPDATE!
This past weekend I added a new stack of handmade cards to the shop in Galena!  Many more to come.  Here’s a little preview.
Next up…re-opening the Etsy shop (Eightymillion Dog Card)!

Until the next word…

Friday’s Top 10 List: 1-11-13

January 11, 2013

All That’s Vintage in Galena, IL

The fog was extremely thick this morning on my way to work.  I passed two accidents and luckily everyone around me was driving with caution.

Another weekend is upon us.  So much to do with such little time.  Do we ever get caught up?  Ever?

Truly a classic.  This song never gets old!
I love Loren’s website.  Here’s one of her recent posts, 8 ways to keep positive energy in your life.
DIY Homemade Laundry soap?  Sure, save some money and give it a try.  Everything Etsy shares the recipe right here.
Teacup puppy.  Adorable.
How incredibly cozy does this look?
Looking for that perfect gift for your photographer friend?  Shop here!  My wishlist for this site in so long.
I’m still not completely sold on the whole concept of Instagram.  Perhaps it’s the feeling of uploading more photos to yet another social site.  However, if your a Instagram junkie then you might just appreciate this.
The flu can be one nasty mess.  Protect yourself and your pets.

Bullying.  A subject that doesn’t get enough attention.  I caught this segment on the news this week.  It’s nice to see teens taking a proactive approach to cyber bullying.  A friend of mine will be finishing up film production for an upcoming documentary titled, Hear Me Now-The Face of School Bullying.  I also found this article interesting.

We live in a social media world.  Well, at least I do.  Do you use StumbleUpon?  Here’s some additional tips on getting started.

Have a great weekend!

Until the next word…
